London, England – (September 9-10, 2013) –Torad Engineering’s very own Craig Bradshaw, PhD a talk at the 2013 International Conference on Compressors and their Systems at City University. The manuscript he presented provided detailed to the Spool Compress tip seal design considerations. Craig presented an analysis which combines the hydrodynamic film theory balanced with the tip seal dynamics. This model was explored over a variety of tip seal radii, widths, and mechanical spring rates.The experimental volumetric efficiency of a prototype compressor with various seal radii and mechanical spring rates was compared against the model.
